Your confidence and mental strength
Nothing builds self-belief more than you doing what you said you would. Holding yourself accountable to higher standards. Showing up for yourself as you do for others
And you’ll be able to handle everyday life stresses better - the physical strength builds your resilience outside of the gym 💪🏼
It’s an investment in ageing healthily and with dignity
Ageing is inevitable; we don’t have control over our bodies getting older.
But you can slow down the ageing process and keep a body that’s capable for as long as possible.
Muscle mass and strength are key predictors of longevity; they indicate how long and how well you live.
I don’t know about you, but living longer isn’t so enticing if there’s little to no quality of life, and you have to ask a stranger to lift you off the toilet.
It’s your health insurance
I’ll put it plain and simple for you. Strength training lowers the risk of
type 2 diabetes
some types of cancer
cardiovascular diseases
And can help
improve symptoms of PCOS or hypothyroidism
strengthen bones and joints, so you’re less fragile as you get older (it’s even more important for women when they enter the peri-menopause and menopause phase, with the hormonal changes impacting the bone density and muscle mass)
And these are just a few health benefits.
I do train for aesthetic goals, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to tone up, lift here and there or shape your body. But the importance of training goes way beyond that. And sometimes wanting to look good is not good enough – if your motivation is not there, these 3 reasons should be enough to get you off the sofa and to the gym ;)
